The Government Chief Information Officer (GCIO) is accountable for the implementation of the Directions and Priorities for Government ICT [1], and provides advice on the strategic direction for government use of ICT to Ministers, chief executives, senior stakeholders, central agencies and State sector agencies.
I am ably assisted by the Office of the GCIO [2], and together we are working towards:
The aim is lower cost, higher quality public services, and I look forward to working with you in this role to achieve this. There is much to do, and doing it will depend on your ongoing support and enthusiasm, and that of all government CIOs and their staff.
This website will keep you up to date with the government ICT programme. I invite you to keep an eye out for future updates [3] and contact the Office of the GCIO [2] to share your views or offer assistance with the Directions and Priorities.
Colin MacDonald
Government Chief Information Officer, and Chief Executive and Secretary for Internal Affairs
